"The Way of G-d"
Part 2: "Divine Providence"
Chapter 5: "How Divine Providence Works"
Paragraph 5
Never forget, though, that despite the system He Himself set up to administer
His wishes, G-d is profoundly aware of absolutely everything that goes on.
And that it's He and He alone who's in charge of everything. (The wise will
take this principle to heart and use it as a constant source of comfort and
insight.)
For indeed, G-d's will and presence imbues the universe, from inside-out and
outside-in, root to branch and branch to root. And He makes sure that
*everything* that happens contributes in one way or another to the
fulfillment of His ultimate goal of universal perfection. In fact, the
carrying out of that goal is the axis upon which the entire universe spins,
and our own personal circumstances are certainly no exception to that rule.
Thus *everything* that happens to us -- spiritually as well as physically --
comes about with this goal in mind. And every circumstance we find ourselves
in is a consequence of who we are and what we've done, and is suffused with
G-d's will that we experience it just then and just that way for the
overarching goal of universal perfection.
