Welcome to the Tour of the Temple series of classes by Project Genesis. The words "Beis Hamikdash" — Holy Temple — are associated with many different concepts on many different levels but this class will limit its discussion to a very basic, but fundamental, point: what the building actually looked like. This 15-part series will provide a general overview of the layout and structure of the Second Temple as described in the Talmudic and historical literature.

   Each class will consist of a text portion accompanied by illustrations. So as not to overburden the reader the text portion will be limited to a few paragraphs focusing on the main aspects of the areas under discussion. At the end of each class will be a link to the author's blog, Beis Hamikdash Topics, where a more detailed version of the same class will be posted. By design, the email classes are intended to give only a very general idea of what the structure looked like, and readers are therefore encouraged to peruse the blog post and submit their questions and comments for the author there.
