I have just returned from a fact finding media trip to Israel and a visit to the bomb shelter which first housed the HQ of Zaka was one of the most touching examples of the spirit of volunteerism in Israel.
I was chilled to note alongside Medi-Vac bags - boxes containing the tools of a builder, including paint scrapers and my blood ran cold as I realised that this tool is used to retrieve pieces of flesh from a sidewalk.
My salutes to this amazing organisation - G. K. -1/1-/2003 |

Yisroel Stefansky visited our church, Knollwood Assembly of God in Mobile, Alabama two Sundays ago. He made a tremendous impression on our entire family. What a wonderful, humble young man! An excellent ambassador for ZAKA.
We made a donation to your organization and will continue to do so. Our prayers are with all of you and your country, Israel. - T. L. -0/7-/2003 |

When I heard Rabbi Yaakov Uri of ZAKA
speak to my shul on Shabbos, I saw that
K'lal Yisrael must support ZAKA without
hesitation. They are saving lives every
minute, every day, 24/7/365! - I. S. -0/1-/2003 |

I am a volunteer for Zaka in Israel. Sadly, our services have been required more and more of late.
As the article states, our work is mentally difficult, but we keep returning to do our job when we are called. We are all aware of the importance of our work; aiding in the identification of the victims and providing them with a proper burial. - E. Y. -0/6-/2002 |

The litmus test of friendship is the willingness to come forward in a time of need. A friend becomes as a brother in times of adversity. May G~d bless and keep you safe in all that you do for your brothers.

Arutz Sheva has an interview with a young Zaka volunteer, Yisrael. It's under the link for "audio on demand".
Zaka is composed of volunteers, and they rely on donations.
Yisrael said they need to buy motor scooters so they can get through traffic faster than by ambulance or car.
They also need, unfortunately, lots of rubber gloves, and ... bullet-proof vests. - V. M. -0/5-/2002 |

It is my prayer that the hearts of all
Israelis do not become hardened or
vengeful. In this showing all the more
that you are a people set apart by
G_d Himself. - M. P. -0/5-/2002 |
