The real danger for the State of Israel future is more demography than terrorism. In the most peaceful ways - making babies, marrying Palestinians from the territories, infiltrating from the territories and settling within Israel territory - israeli Arabs will become the majority in a few decennies and will turn Israel in an arab state.
We don't rely on miracles.
Aptitude to self sacrifice won't help in that case. So what is the solution? -1/2-/2001

We have seen how the events of September 11th have awakened America to the core values which created and sustained her for over two hundred years. We may find that the sad and horrific events which have transpired in Israel, especially the most recent intensification of Arab terror, will stir our brethren to a similar awakening. Just as there has been a stirring of conservative political sentiment in the U.S., we may find that there will be a similar stirring in Israel. Sometimes self-preservation is the motivating force that can turn liberals into patriots. Let us hope that G-d so moves the hearts of all those who have formerly rejected Him and our ancient traditions, so that our weakness can be turned into strength. - J. D. -1/2-/2001

While every word you have written is 100% true, the one thing that you did not mention is that the fate of Bnei Yisroel is decided in Heaven and that all the pandering by the politicians to the world is nonsense. -1/2-/2001

It is amazing that you have defined the truthfulness of the situation of the Jewish people so accurately. Do you not find it an eerie coincidence that the Jews of preholocaust Europe were as complacent about their future.
What can I do to help? I am donating, writing, speaking davening, saying Tehilim, yet the battle seems enormous. Your are right Jonathan, the Jewish people (as usual) need a miracle. How can we unite to at least recognize that this it what we need? Our vast differences seperate us that we cannot even agree on what is the correct way to serve Hashem. Only G-d can help us now

I am saddened too by the state of affairs in the Jewish state. But sadly, a leader has not emerged that puts faith in G-d above man's efforts to stop the terrorism in OUR G-d given land. I believe the phrase says: "Not by might nor power but belief in me says the Lord of Hosts" says the prophet. The kind of leader we need is one who will lead the Jewish people to greater Jewish observance, Torah study, sincere heartfelt prayer, teshuva, and acts of tzedakah. In other words, we as a people have a responsibility to one another to get our "act together" in our devotion to G-d and our commitment to become a "Kingdom of Priests and a Holy Nation". To put it another way, less lip service and more action.

The point made is very valid. If Jewish leaders will not support the Jews in their own homeland then the world is indeed upside down and has it's priorities confused. -1/2-/2001
