This is just the beginning of Jew-hatred in U.S. The Moslems are planting seeds of Jew hatred in the intellegensia fields, and I fear the harvest awaiting for American Jews who do not combat this immediately and vigorously. A strong program with facts on the history of Israel needs to be created on college campuses nationwide. American high school textbooks' slanted version of Israel, Judaism, and history
condition American students to be easy prey for further indoctrination at the college level. To check antisemitism start with the askewed history and geography textbooks in highschool. - F. G. -1/1-/2002 |

The divest movement is a prime example of antisemites hiding their hatred behind an anti Israel campaign - H. B. -1/1-/2002 |

I lived one block from USC Berkeley Campus in the mid 80s, and learned first hand the narrowness of liberal thought prevalent in some Universities.
It doesnt take a high I.Q. or even common sense to be accepted at academic institutions.
Case in point... the antisemetic attitudes prevelant today. - D. C. -1/1-/2002 |

Jeff: You and the president of Harvard are to be complimented for your honesty, bravery and intelligence. How good it is to see someone with intelligence speak to what could be another world disaster. How can we just stand by without attacking the disease that nearly destroyed us once during the last century. Thank you again for speaking out. - G. M. -1/1-/2002 |

Bold, concise, morally clear. Thank you for distinguishing for readers between fair criticism of Israel and covert/overt Jew-hatred. - S. S. -1/1-/2002 |

I liked your article. I wish it was published in many papers, not just the Boston Globe. -1/1-/2002 |

Jeff Jacoby is overstating the influence of the "divest from Israel" movement. As of October 2, the petition at http://www.harvardmitdivest.org in favor of Harvard and MIT divesting from businesses that do business with Israel had gathered exactly 583 signatures from faculty, staff, students, and alumni. By comparison, the anti-divestment petition at http://www.harvardmitjustice.org collected 5831 signatures in just a few weeks.
Having been trounced by a ten to one margin at Harvard and MIT, the anti-Israel folks turned their attention to Columbia. As of this morning, the anti-divestment signatures at http://www.columbiadontdivest.org outnumber the pro-divestment signatures at http://www.columbiadivest.org by 18929 to 427.
While there are still anti-Semites in America, it is clear that they are overwhelmingly outnumbered at the great academic institutions of Harvard, MIT, and Columbia. As a Harvard grad (BA 1979), I am proud of my alma mater and will have my checkbook reflect that pride. - C. H. -1/1-/2002 |

This is one of the best articles I have read in a long time. It is short, to the point, powerful and most of all it is all true.
Thank you Jeff, I hope everyone reads this! - T. V. -1/1-/2002 |

A remarkably, given the current atmosphere, quiet and well reasoned piece. Bravo! - B. S. -1/1-/2002 |

It is a good article, I live in Finland
where the state has created the Hitlers
reich where isolated single Jews do not have any rights and are victimized by the state run vandalism and terror,
which in some cases is the same for the Finns. Universities have very organized fascism which is some times described as "deciplin" and is very pro ARAB.
It is not only in Finland but all the Scandenavia and the EU, has fallen into the hands of Nazis which want to win the war which they lost, through different means this time. Israel and Israel supporters are one of the aims of the state for elimination of persons in these countries, which also have coopration in the third world. -1/1-/2002 |

How so right he is, I served in the Rhodesia security forces, I know what the terrorist are all about, Marxist backed, for a communist take over, a gun barrel operation on the Jewish state, I call it another repetition, another great terrorist ambush being placed upon the good people of Israeli goverment as well as the United States.
I know what their intent is, but it can be stopped. Go to the core, not around it. - R. K. -1/1-/2002 |

Finally someone in high position has the guts to tell the truth. I am a devout Christian but hate what is happening to the Jews today. It is time we all stand up for the truth! - M. P. -1/1-/2002 |
