And the biggest shame is that the Jewish communities do not come out and loudly condemn those groups, and make it common knowledge that this group has nothing Jewish to it.
Though not R' Shafran's biggest fan, this is a great article and I agree 100% - N. B. -0/9-/2003

I agree with the writer - I believe that, if anything, it is Christians who would stand to better themselves if they look at their "roots" emanating from Judaism, and actually learned what their own Savior was - a Jew, who did and spoke and thought in Jewish terms and with Jewish understanding. We all need to come closer to G-d's presence, and that will be easier to do by learning to be better Jews through education and passion for G-d's way. - D. M. -0/9-/2003

As a Gentile and a Christian I deplore the tactics described. An organization that calls itself "Jews for Jesus" should be made up of Jews, not mostly non-Jews. By using stereotypes and put-downs they are violating what they supposedly stand for. While some (still) observant Jews have joined the "Messianic" movement, targeting those that know little about their background or those disaffected for whatever reason is the tactic of a cult, not of a legitimate, reasoning organization. I am a student of Judaism because I know it will help me understand my religion better. Unfortunately, many in the "Jews for Jesus" movement don't feel the same way. Some would try to make Gentile Christians of untrained Jews, forgetting that for at least the first ten years of Christianity all its members were observant Jews. I suspect that if non-Jews had never come into the movement, it would be part of the "Jewish mosaic" of which the author speaks. - T. O. -0/9-/2003

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing! Torah, as we all know is the only religion that is not a religion but a life. It is living and breathing! The only way to steal someone's life away from him is to trick him out of it. Here Jews are being tricked out of life by their ignorance! We have to increase our own knowledge and that of our children to stop this onslaught! - R. B. -0/9-/2003

I agree fully. Jews need to educate each other and our children about Jewish culture values and traditions.
There was a time when I thought such groups were harmless, but I have come to see them as a christian group actively engaged in a ruthless deception. I once thought that possibly that were seeking a more honorable purpose, ie. reconciling Judaism and christianity, or attempting to identify with Judaism by adopting some Jewish rituals and customs, but around ten years ago I relized they were fraudulently presenting themselves to christians and Jews. I appreciate your article. - V. H. -0/9-/2003
