Shavu'os is on the fiftieth day of the Omer counting. This holiday, is the anniversary of our acceptance of the Torah at Mount Sinai. On this day, we celebrate the fact that we have the Torah, and we acknowledge that we received all of the Torah, both oral and written.
In the days of the Temple, this is one of the three holidays for which we are commanded to make the pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem. On Shavu'os we would bring of the first fruits of the harvest to the Temple.
This year 5768/2007-2008, Shavu'os begins on June 8 at sundown, and ends on June 10, 2005 at nightfall.
